‘We Are One: A Global Film Festival’ – A chance to watch some of the finest films at home

With some film getting a digital premiere due to the global lockdown, film festivals too are taking cue and going digital.

‘We Are One: A Global Film Festival’ is a free 10-day online festival hosted by the film community to celebrate movies and provide support for relief for COVID-19 efforts. The program will premiere some of the finest films between 29 May to 7 June, 2020.

Exclusively available on their YouTube Channel, ‘We Are One: A Global Film Festival’ is a free 10-day online festival hosted by the film community to celebrate movies and provide support for relief for COVID-19 efforts.

This initiative includes participants from 21 international film festivals such as Berlin, Toyko, Sundance, Venice, Toronto and India.

India’s most prestigious festival, Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is also participating in this international film festival with four entries selected for a world premiere.

Speaking of of the collaboration and India’s entries to the international film festival, Smriti Kiran (Artistic Director at Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and co-curator of the programs for ‘We Are One: A Global Film Festival’) said in a digital press release:

Eeb Allay Ooo!, Natkhat, Nasir, and Awake represent urgent, relevant and diverse aspects of India and the world. The apathy towards the migrant workers, the mindless devastation of communal violence, deep-rooted patriarchy, ideas of love and possession will find resonance across continents. The challenge and responsibility for us always is to consistently push the different film cultures that co-exist in India and bring to the surface new and exciting voices. We Are One is a milestone endeavor for us to stand in solidarity with the global film community and an incredible opportunity and platform to put some of our best new cinematic voices out in the world.
