Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan developed Bollywood’s first superhero series in 2003 with Koi… Mil Gaya with a backstory to create a franchise. The installments got bigger in production starring actor Hrithik Roshan in titular roles in Krrish [2006] and Krrish 3 [2013] (note: There’s no Krrish 2 because Krrish 3 was released as a trilogy).
Recently, the makers dropped the news of a possibility of the fourth installment – Krrish 4.
Reportedly, a team of writers along with the producers have been working on developing the story and reprising the role of the fan-favorite alien, Jaadu.
A source from Mumbai Mirror quoted,
Rakesh ji and Hrithik, with their team of writers have been brain-storming on how to take Krrish forward and have finally locked an idea. Jaadu has strong recall value and they felt that with Rohit Mehra dying in Krrish 3, it’d be the right time to introduce Krrish to the alien who gifted him his special powers.
Speaking to the publication, Hrithik also made a statement saying,
Yes, the world can do with some Jaadu now.
Krrish 3 ended with the birth of Krrish’s son whom the couple (played by Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan) names Rohit to honor the memory of Krrish’s father. The makers left the audience on a suspenseful note where the new-born suddenly disappears from the crib in a hospital room and then is supposedly found on the ceiling – signifying that he too is perhaps born with superpowers. This obviously paved way for the possibility for another installment in the franchise.
Krrish 4 has been underway since 2017. However, it has been delayed owing to Rakesh Roshan’s health. The film was earlier rumored to go on floors in early 2020 for a Christmas release, but the outbreak of Covid-19 paused the production indefinitely.
