A remarkable three-day event, “In Conversation with Mr. Joy Alukkas,” which garnered significant attention and acclaim from attendees and media alike.
Mr. Joy Alukkas is the founder and chairman of the eponymous global retail brand Joyalukkas
Jewellery. Originally from Thrissur in Kerala, he is credited with modernizing the Indian
jewellery retail business globally. Branching out on his own from a family-run business, he
disrupted the traditional model of standalone jewellery stores and created a global chain
comprising 160 stores in India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the UK and the US. His
diverse business interests include forex remittance and textile retail under the brand names
Joyalukkas Exchange and Jolly Silks, respectively. He figures on the Forbes’ Billionaires list of
2023 and is regarded as one of the most prominent business leaders of the Arab world.
The event, spanning from 5th to 7th February, 2024, showcased the extraordinary journey of Mr. Joy Alukkas and his autobiography, ‘Spreading Joy – How Joyalukkas Group became the world’s favourite jeweller,’ founder and chairman of Joyalukkas Jewellery, in various prestigious venues across London.
Day One: The event kicked off on the 5th of February at the esteemed Portcullis House, UK Parliament, where dignitaries including Members of Parliament such as Virendra Sharma, Martyn Day, and Stephen Timms, along with Baronness Uddin among others, gathered to honor Mr. Alukkas’ achievements. The event was presented by The British South India Council of Commerce (BSICC) and hosted by Mr. Martyn Day.
Day Two: An inspirational afternoon took place at the London College of Contemporary Arts, where students from various programs gathered to engage with Mr. Alukkas. He shared words of wisdom about the jewellery business and navigating the market, followed by an engaging Q&A session that left the audience inspired.
Day Three: The final leg of the event culminated at the esteemed London School of Economics, where once again, students from diverse backgrounds had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Alukkas’ experiences and insights. The session was interactive, with students actively participating in discussions about entrepreneurship and the jewellery industry.
Throughout the three days, attendees were treated to select extracts from Mr. Alukkas’ bestselling autobiography, ‘Spreading Joy – How Joyalukkas Group became the world’s favourite jeweller,’ offering a glimpse into his compelling narrative of resilience, innovation, and excellence.

rare insights into an industry traditionally fragmented and unorganized. Through
innovations such as the use of karatmeter and pioneering billing software, Mr. Joy Alukkas
transformed the gold-retailing business, earning him the title of ‘customer’s favourite
jeweller.’
