Director Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious project, Brahmāstra is expected to be delayed again. According to sources, the film is at the last leg of production in Manali with its lead actor Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. Post filming the climax scene the team is scheduled to proceed to Varanasi to shoot a song sequence.
The magnum opus was first schedule for release in December 2019, but owing to intricate visual-effects the team pushed it release to summer 2020. However, the makers and VFX artists are expecting another delay to further fine-tune the final product, aiming to hit theatres by last quarter of 2020.
“A major chunk of VFX is still pending which includes the stuff shot with Shah Rukh Khan at a studio in Mumbai, and the plot that unfolds in Manali and Varanasi. The company working on the visual effects has conveyed to the producers that they won’t be able to get the film ready by Summer due to complexities in the visual effects, which has come across as a shock to everyone working on the film.” a source disclosed about the developments.
Brahmāstra will be a trilogy, revolving around the most powerful weapon of God, which is broken into pieces that are hidden in various parts of India.
The film also stars actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in prominent roles.
